Microsoft Office 365 is a collection or world class software products designed to improve productivity, enable team collaboration, provide a central point for them to store and share files.

The suite enables businesses to dispense with expensive servers and overcome all the traditional problems of providing users with remote access to company systems.

 It is made up of four components - Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Lync Online and Office web apps.
There is also the option of subscribing for Office Pro Plus which can be installed on up to five desktops.

Exchange online provides the full exchange experience allowing users to access their email and calendars on their desktop through outlook and on mobile devices such as Windows 7 Mobile smartphones, Iphones, Ipads  and other tablets.

SharePoint online is an ideal tool for businesses to store their documents and share them with employees wherever they are working. It even enables invitations to be sent to people outside the organisation to securely view or download documents
In our view it is like Dropbox on steroids and avoids the need for a company to invest in and expensive file server in their offices.

Lync Online is a communication tool that enables users to have conversations using instant messaging, voice calls or video conferencing. Lync  also has “Presence” which shows the user if the person they wish communicate with is available.

For those occasions when you are using a computer that does not have Microsoft Office installed users individuals can use Office applications hosted on Microsoft servers. The applications available are Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote
